Grade 9 Science students working together on their lab techniques.
Grade 12 AP Biology students went to the local college and worked with Biotechnology students to extract and sequence fish DNA.
Grade 9 Science students were asked to create an "alien periodic table". They were given alien cards and had to arrange them in rows and columns based on the patterns they observed.
Grade 11 Biology students learned about the ethics of animal dissections. They were asked to do their own research to weigh the pros and cons of dissections and suggest potential alternatives.
Grade 9 Enriched Science students learned about density and were then asked to design a procedure to create a "rainbow in a cup" using water, sugar, and food colouring.
Grade 12 AP Biology students putting theory into practice: isolating, cutting up, and sequencing DNA. A great extension of their learning!
Grade 9 Science students used their scientific investigation skills to compare regular and diet soft-drinks.
We held a mindfulness & wellness workshop for our school community. We explored the meaning of mindfulness and went around the group sharing our strategies to improve mental wellness. Some strategies included meditation, yoga, and calligraphy!
Grade 11 Biology students used microscopes to compare healthy and diseased cells. At the end of the class, students used their critical thinking skills to consider how microscopy impacts our understanding of disease diagnosis and progression. They shared their thoughts on Padlet.
Grade 9 Enriched Science students were asked to demonstrate their understanding of elements and the periodic table by designing their own "cereal brand" to represent an element of their choice.
